How did you come to be in the adult entertainment business?

In 2003, I appeared on a reality TV show created by Playboy that was searching for the next erotic film director. I won the competition and persuaded a friend of mine to start a company. Joybear was born soon after.

What’s a typical day like in the office for you?

It’s not quite the rock ‘n roll, coke-snorting vibe some might expect. Much of the time is spent trying to drive the business forward and liaising with Vanessa, our head of production.  

Can you describe the perfect adult film?

It would establish credible characters you can identify with, and have a natural segue into sex. If the characters are strangers, they should behave as such and display a sense of discovery and excitement. This is the kind of thing we aim for in our films.

What makes Joybear films special?

A strong sense of Britishness lies at the heart of our films, whether it is reflected in characters, locations or style. We make films that represent real-life sex. If it wouldn’t happen in real life, it probably won’t happen in a Joybear film. We also believe in sex positivity and celebrating female sexuality, all of which informs the premium naughtiness we produce.
