First it was ‘YOLO’, then it was ‘FOMO’... Now, floating around the internet is the next confusing acronym for us all to obsess over: ‘BDE’.

BDE, or Big Dick Energy is a phrase coined to recognise that quiet, cool confidence which oozes from someone we find unbelievably attractive – a swagger, as though one is walking around town with a huge package in the trouser department that only they know about.

BDE isn’t arrogance, it’s the opposite. It’s authentic, it’s twinkling eyes and a knowing smile, it’s a chilled-out sense of confidence exuding from someone’s very core, which comes from knowing your true worth and true sex appeal. It’s irresistible.

But it’s not just something only men can have. BDE, or Big Dick Energy actually has very little to do with having a big dick. It’s an energy which anyone can harness - whether you have a penis or not, whether it’s large or more modest.  Examples of women with serious BDE include Rihanna, Tilda Swinton, Beyonce and Cate Blanchett. 

We started spotting BDE being used after pop star Ariana Grande shared a pretty raunchy tweet about her new fiance, suggesting his ‘je ne sais quoi’ was all to do with his confidence-boosting trouser snake. And the internet responded in its droves, now completely understanding how this gangly, pasty bloke managed to snag Ariana Grande: he’s got some serious BDE about him.

At Joybear, we’re all about that BDE. Confidence is sexy, and we can all agree that our steamy scenes work best when one (or both) of our performers walks on set with that sexy-confidence-we-can’t-resist… We’re just glad there’s finally an acronym we can use to talk about them now!
