Forget the gym - this is how many calories you burn having sex posted on 20th November 2017

Two things we all want: great sex and a healthy, fit body. But did you know that having sex can burn as many calories as going for a run?

Researchers have suggested that 30 minutes of frisky fun burns as many calories as going for a 15 minute run, the same amount as you’d find in a can of full fat cola!

And if your romp is particularly heated, you could burn off an entire chocolate bar – which you’d need to run four whole miles to achieve. Ouch.

For those of you who are in it for the long haul, two hours of sex burns off a whole burger (or three vodka and cokes if you like a tipple) and uses the same amount of calories as playing an entire football match. Which would you rather do?

Different positions have different energy outputs, and it turns out that men and women burn calories differently depending on how they choose to get their freak on. For men, the most intense workout comes from holding their partners up against a wall, or having sex standing up. For women, the most calories are shifted during reverse cowgirl or when being held up by their partners, as much of the exertion come from holding themselves up in their partner’s arms.
