So after exploring blindfolds last week, I started to think, what else do I keep in my bedside drawer? After all a wise person once told me that sex is like ice cream: While it's delicious on its own, a few carefully selected toppings can take it from good to great. I think there's a few tried and tested bits that I would call Sexy Essentials and I'm going to share them with you this week...

Number 1 - A vibrator. In fact, I think that more than one is perfect, a vibe for each situation you might say... The range available is now so vast, and there are so many different situations that can benefit from some good vibrations. Of course your number one should be a vibe for solo play. Preference varies, the old favourites like the Rampant Rabbit are ever popular but have been rather superseded by more and more innovative designs. I also like to have a small and very portable vibrator, good for weekends away and holidays. Vibrating cock rings, remote controlled vibes and toys that focus on clitoral stimulation are all winners in my book.

Never fail number 2 - A fishnet bodystocking. I have quite a few of these in my collection now as they can really take a regular sex session into something really erotic. I love the feel of touch through lace or fishnet. With a partner I will wear one out on date night underneath a dress, and let them know at an opportune moment. These are also super flattering and great for sexy selfies. Don't be put off by the cheesy pictures on the packaging, if you're not sure try an inexpensive one first. For you perhaps it will be stockings and lingerie, but I really do highly recommend giving one of these a try.

Third place - A big feather. I have a huge ostrich feather, so fun for tickling a partner and especially good when used with your blindfold to really tease your beau. You can also enjoy the feel of this on your own, if you take your time you can seduce yourself just as well as a lover can, Soft caresses with a feather are a sensual way to build up some solo sexual tension that you will enjoy releasing.

A must at number 4 - Lube. Getting slippy is sexy and lube can take your romp to the next level. If you are wanting to explore ass play then it's an essential. Water based is best as it won't adversely affect condoms or sex toys. Make sure to find one that you will enjoy reaching for, because of its smell or effect. Using lube in your solo sessions can add some extra fun, try some of the tingly versions and you'll see what I mean.

Another favourite for me - Massage oil. I love giving and receiving massages and some gorgeous smelling oil will always be nicer than dull moisturiser. Massage is great for moments when you want intimacy, but perhaps not full sex. A massage is also such a beautiful gift to give your partner, an hour long back massage is always going to go down a treat as a birthday present. If you're worried about your skills, don't be, just start with a foot rub (impossible to do a bad one). Another tip is to imagine what you would enjoy and try that on your partner. There are also plenty of resources online and practice makes progress of course.

Lastly - Condoms if you require. Always practice safe sex.
