Serious Sex: How do you get the fun/filth balance right? |

By Liselle When we embarked on 'Match-Mates', the plan was to capture great sex as a result of people having a fantastic time. I knew it wouldn't be difficult if the performers had fun and I'm proud to say I was proved right. Interestingly, watching some of the footage back we now wonder if we've become victims of our own success by generating too much fun. Do you really want to see people having a laugh or could this actually be a bit distracting? And so we wondered, when should the smiles stop and the sex get serious? Now, I'm not talking about comedy; when it comes to porn, most people want the humour to stop when the horn starts. I'm talking about the light-hearted stuff that can be a great part of real sex. Do we want more smiles and couples having good, honest fun in porn? Or should it be kept to pure lust and no laughter? As 'Match-Mates' involved people I know well, there was a comfortable atmosphere and lots of giggles along the way. Scene 4 (Tanya Tate and Peter Oh Tool) was a particularly easy shoot; friends who fancy each other, a few drinks and a wet and wild day of female pleasure (Pete had a great time too!) When I came to edit that scene, I couldn't believe how much Tanya was smiling and laughing... and loudly whooping for joy. I knew that to some, seeing a girl have such a great sexual experience, would be a turn-on and the kind of porn they'd like to see more of. However, I also knew that some would wish that she'd smile less, talk dirty and pout more. "I" may even be one of those people. So I showed the scene to a couple of girlfriends (not regular porn watchers). They loved it. In fact, they said they would be really happy to watch it with their boyfriends. They loved Tanya and they enjoyed seeing her feel so much pleasure (in fact, according to the British Board of Film Classification, it was too much pleasure. But that's another blog...) I know that sex and laughter don't work for all of us but as a consumer, I feel Tanya's giggles enrich her afternoon fun with Pete. Aficionado or not, isn't sex supposed to be fun??
