Producing an Adult Film: Part 1 Over the next month or so, we're going to blog about what's going on at Joybear HQ as we plan our next adult film.
Liselle: So much goes on before we even get to the shooting stage... there's everything from casting the models (porn stars) to planning the locations, to actually coming up with the hot ideas in the first place! So, if you ever wanted to know what it's like from the inside (and if you want some exclusive info on our new film as it unfolds), then stay in touch every week and feel free to post questions or comments.
We thought the best thing to start with would be... well, the thing we always start with: Who are we? What are we? And WHY WHY WHY do we do it?! Following our recent meeting in which we 'found ourselves' again, here is the gist of Justin's thoughts...

Justin: When I started Joybear, I knew nothing about the industry, other than as a consumer. The only game plan I had was to make (what I believed to be) tasteful porn films that both sexes could enjoy (alone or together). I knew there was a torrent of very hard material available. I also knew a number of women who were comfortable watching porn but just didn't know where to find material that really catered to their needs. Turning us guys on was easy but tapping into the female psyche, now there's an idea. I was pretty sure that no one was doing this in the U.K. The Ben Dovers of this world had proven formulas that didn't spare a moment's thoughts for (most) women. I was also proud to be a Londoner and thought that the big smoke should feature more in dirty films. My motto would be simple - 'less is more' - this was my game plan.
I had always hated the crummy acting in porn and so desperately wanted to avoid that with my films. I thought that I could use reality to tell the story and in the process bypass the need for "acting". If I can make it look real then it will seem sexier because it could happen to you.

I knew that men liked my films and I knew that women liked my films. If I can't make porn for women then surely I can make porn for couples. I had my target market.

I used to be afraid of sleazy but I think sleazy is sometimes an important part of sex and being sexy. When you're in the moment and living it, it's not sleazy - it becomes sexy. My vision is to blend creative filmmaking with sexy scenarios. |

Liselle: So, as the Joybear Big Cheese says, it's all about turning people on and creating genuinely sexy adult films for couples, women and men. And about having a bit of creative fun as well!
