How Joybear is Handling the Recession

Hi there,

Seeing as you're all kind of share holders in Joybear, I wanted to share with you our plan for not only getting through this recession but coming out the other side as one of the main players in the couple-friendly, adult erotic film arena.

It makes me smile that I entered the erotic DVD industry more as a creative person but have morphed into a businessman. Perhaps that's an obvious transition in business. I guess it depends on your skill sets and inclination (sweety).

I often wonder what would have happened if it had been the other way round and I'd started with more of a business head on. Would I now own two Lamborghinis, instead of one? For the record, I do not (ever intend to) own a Lamborghini. For anyone interested, I actually ride a Ducati Monster as I find the air conditioning system far superior to that of a Lamborghini.

I am a real believer in one door closes and another door opens (both in business and in our personal lives). I set up Joybear in 2003 and it has been a never ending proof of the pudding in that respect. DVD sales are down. Web and International sales are up.

Here are some of the key areas that we will be focusing on over the coming months:
1. Growth:
Continued expansion and development of our online community, established through the delivery of distinctive video content. The Joybear brand has always strived to produce content for both boys and girls and our focus will remain on what women want, so couples can play together.
2. Distinctive Content:
Never before has it been so important to make your product stand out. We see the current climate as a great opportunity to leave everyone else behind by creating fresh, individual films that galvanise your lust.
3. Catering for a Discerning Audience:
In so far as variety and choice is concerned, we cannot compete with the Tube sites. So we're not going to. We are not a Tesco or Sainsburys (for our lovely non-UK 'share holders' these are British supermarket giants) and we don't intend to become one. We are your upmarket deli, conveniently located in selective parts of town, offering a wide selection of delights not found anywhere else. When good ingredients outweigh the convenience of a soulless supermarket (perhaps you're entertaining!) you'll pop into the deli for something special!

It is really good to see someone out there trying to do something different and I think you could have a big market to go for. So much produced as erotic dvd is just the same just packaged up slightly differently. How many dvds have you watched and thought this could have been so much better with just a little bit of thinking. Go for it.
